The House of Delegates has passed H.B. 2006, known as the Contracting Licensing Act. This bill eliminates the requirement for a contractor’s license for painting work in West Virginia. Instead of protecting West Virginia consumers and assuring work is done by a qualified painting contractor, some lawmakers believe anyone can do it!
Additionally, this bill eliminates the requirement for a contractor’s license for commercial projects under $50,000 and for residential projects under $10,000. This new law would eliminate the need for a contractor’s license for residential painting projects under $10,000.
Contact your State Senators and tell them to restore painting to the Contracting Licensing Act and lower the limits!
